The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in South West North Dakota have set up Sacred Stone Camp. This is a place where thousands of people from all over the world are joining in to protect our water and land from harm.

The Dakota Access Pipeline was slated to construct a 1,172-mile pipeline which would run through sacred and treaty lands, and over our sacred water, the Missouri river. The camp has grown from a few hundred in the beginning of this year to thousands of people contributing their time, talents, and most of all energy to protect our water. Not only for us in this time, but most importantly for our children and future generations to come.

I believe this is an important time, and we are creating history which our children need to know. I want to be able to pass down this experience and knowledge to my children so they know the importance of people coming together, bringing what they have to offer for the good of our world. With that said, I am planning a trip to Sacred Stone Camp to be able to bring a firsthand account of this historic moment back to our community, so we may pass this knowledge down to our children.
